Contemporary Apartment - St. Petersburg

The interior created by designer Vera Gerasimova brings together contemporary furniture from Denmark, Belgium and Italy with vintage pieces, current painting and graphic works, and carefully chosen accessories. Subtle references to classical design are introduced with restraint, acting as accents rather than defining features. These include generous cornices and skirting boards, as well as a Rococo-inspired plaster ceiling rose above the dining table.

The vertical element adjoining the kitchen island appears almost purpose-built to create a more intimate breakfast spot. In reality, it is a structural column that the architect has cleverly incorporated into the design. The kitchen units, finished in veneered panels, discreetly conceal two full-sized refrigerators among their elements. The backsplash is clad in travertine-effect porcelain stoneware, while the worktops are made from a durable composite material.
