Laura Butler-Madden’s Farmhouse - Cotswolds

A centuries-old working farm in the Cotswolds has been lovingly restored by interior designer Laura Butler-Madden as her family home. Original beams, the staircase and Victorian details sit alongside a new extension with arched windows. The extension houses an open-plan kitchen, dining and family space in soft, natural tones, centred on an Italian marble island and understated, earthy cabinetry.

For the heart of the home, the BCS Select team helped bring a timeless Viennese classic to the kitchen island: Gebrüder Thonet Vienna’s N. 811 counter stool. Designed by Josef Hoffmann in 1930, it pairs a steam-bent beech frame with a hand-woven Vienna straw backrest. In a soft, light finish it blends with the marble and pale joinery, adding lightness, texture and a quiet sense of heritage.
